If bedtime feels overwhelming...you are not alone

When bedtime fills you with dread because you already know it’s not going to be simple or calm…
it’s not a moment to enjoy together, it’s a long, drawn-out process where your child can’t settle without you.

You lie there, knowing all you want is just a little bit of time to yourself… or with your partner… to unwind after another day of paperwork, chasing professionals, and trying to get others to truly understand your autistic child’s needs.

Instead, you find yourself stuck in the same exhausting cycle, where your child needs you to fall asleep, wakes multiple times through the night, and you’re up again and again, with no real rest in between.

You’re running on empty, knowing that both you and your child desperately need sleep, yet it still feels completely out of reach and as much as you love your child, there are moments where you just want to be able to sleep in your own bed without them next to you, recognising that you only brought them in because you were so exhausted you couldn’t face another night of trying. You're left wondering, how many more nights like this can I actually cope with?

But imagine what bedtime could feel like if you had a routine that actually worked!

A routine where you and your child could enjoy the calmness of the evening together, rather than dreading it. Imagine your child settling to sleep within 20 minutes, without needing you there the whole time, and night wakings no longer being a regular part of your night. (and if they did wake, they could gently settle themselves back to sleep).

What would it mean for you to have your evenings back? Time to sit with your partner, to switch off, or simply to do something for yourself without interruption. How would it feel to finally get a full night’s sleep in your own bed, without little ones beside you, waking feeling rested rather than exhausted?

Because that’s what better sleep can bring not just for your child, but for you and your whole family. It's for this reason I created my NEW Autism Sleep Foundations Workshop - where we work together to address the real issues that are keeping your child from getting a good nights sleep whilst getting you back your sleep too.

Certified Autism & Anxiety Sleep Specialist

Kelly-anne Riley-Smith

With over 20 years experinece of supporting autistic chidren and thier families I really am here to help.

Hi, I’m Kelly-anne, a Certified Autism and Anxiety Sleep Specialist and a parent of 4 neurodiveregent children who truly understands how exhausting sleep struggles can be.

For over 20 years, I’ve supported autistic children and their families, both professionally and personally and I’ve seen first-hand just how much sleep impacts everything, your child’s regulation, their ability to cope with the day, and your own wellbeing as a parent.

But what I also know is this…so much of the advice out there simply doesn’t work for autistic children. That’s why everything I do is rooted in a neuro-affirming, compassionate and realistic approach. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions or leaving parents to “just figure it out.” Instead, I help you understand why your child is struggling with sleep and guide you to create changes that actually work for your child and your family.

I know what it feels like to be running on empty, second-guessing yourself, and just wanting things to feel a little bit calmer and I also know that when sleep starts to improve, everything else begins to feel more manageable too.

When will I get the workbook?

What if I feel stuck and dont know what to do?

Reach out. You will have full support from me, and the other parents who attend the session, through WhatsApp as we go through creating and implemeting the sleep routine that works for your child.

I've already tried so much, will this actually help my child sleep?

The strategies I teach are based on how autistic children experience sleep differently to neurotypical children. By understanding the physiological reasons that are stopping your child from settling to sleep and staying asleep, you will then be able to create an affective sleep plan that works with their needs. As long as you work collaboratively with me, take my advice and follow the plan then there is no reason this won't be the change you are looking for.
